United States Capitol Police

Dear Mr. Horan:

Enclosed is a copy of a notarized letter dated May 17, 1993 that I wrote and forwarded to the D.C. Department of Human Rights. The letter contains the names of several persons who may have information about me that is pertinent to the concerns of federal law enforcement. I have forwarded a copy of the letter to Robert S. Bennett, Esq. (who is legal counsel to President Clinton as well as Henry Zapruder, whose daughter Alexandra graduated from Smith College in 1991). One of my former supervisors (Freddie Rios) obtained employment in Bennett's law firm (Skadden Arps).

I also want to alert you to a few background facts about an individual referenced in my writings, the psychoanalyst Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson. A few years ago I read that Masson was engaged to be married to Catherine Mackinnon--I don't know what eventually happened there. Mackinnon is a law professor at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor; she is a nationally-prominent expert in sexual harassment who has written extensively in her field. She teaches courses in Sex Equality and Constitutional Law. She testified in the televised Senate Judiciary Committee hearings on the nomination of Clarence Thomas to the U.S. Supreme Court in the fall of 1991. The telephone number of the University of Michigan Law School is (313) 764-1358.

Coincidentally, back in the early 1970's my sister, Mrs. Estelle Jacobson, took a graduate course at Temple University in Philadelphia that was taught by Betty Friedan, a nationally-prominent feminist.

Enclosed for your additional information is a two-page excerpt from a New York Times Magazine article dated October 5, 1997 about U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The article (p. 60) mentions Justice Ginsburg's interest in the opera; page 62 of the article contains a photograph of Ginsburg together with --

Gloria Steinem -- a feminist leader

Stephanie K. Seymour -- Chief Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit (Tulsa, OK)

Nina Totenberg -- reporter for National Public Radio in Washington, DC; daughter of Roman Totenberg (born 1911), a concert violionist and professor of music in Boston; appears regularly on weekly TV news panel show "Inside Washington" with Charles Krauthammer, M.D., who is a retired psychiatrist; and

Catherine Mackinnon, once engaged to be married to Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson.

Sincerely,

Gary Freedman
