Hon. Kaye K. Christian
District of Columbia Superior Court
Washington, DC 20001
Dear Judge Christian:
As a follow-up to my letter to the court dated March 25, 1999, a communication relating to my interest in an employment position with the court in the capacity of law clerk, I submit the enclosed "Informed Consent" form to be signed by my treating psychiatrist, Albert H. Taub, M.D., an employee of the District of Columbia (Commission on Mental Health Services).
I submit this document consistent with the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 which is now construed to permit an employer to require that a disabled employee remediate, or compensate, for his disability. I have been diagnosed by Dr. Taub as suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, for which Dr. Taub has recommended medication. Unfortunately, Dr. Taub refuses to sign the enclosed Informed Consent form.
As I previously indicated, Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Robert Chapman, is familiar with this matter.
Sincerely,
Gary Freedman
