RE: CPK LIBRARY BAN -- CURRENT STATUS
Dear Officer Williams:
I respectfully forward for your information, Officer Williams, a copy of a letter dated February 4, 2005 from The Honorable John Cornyn, United States Senator from Texas. The Senator's letter responds to a collection of materials (including a computer disc that contained my letters to my imaginary friend, Brian Patrick Brown) that I had forwarded to the Senator under cover dated January 24, 2005 (copy attached). The Senator kept all the materials, including the computer disc.
Senator Cornyn is a former Texas state court judge. If he believed my document submission was inappropriate or non-meritorious he would not have taken the time to respond to my letter. Also, I dabbed liquid on the Senator's signature; the ink smeared. Apparently, Senator Cornyn signed the letter himself.
At this time my plan is to send letters to all the members of the U.S. House and Senate, a process that may take a year or more. [I believe there is a substantial public policy interest in my personal problems. I recently received an unsolicited inquiry from Professor Suzanne Jackson, at the Georgetown University Law School, who inquired whether I would be interested in assisting her Health Care Legal Clinic by, among other things, testifying about my disability (specifically, my difficulties in obtaining Medigap insurance coverage) before the DC Council and, perhaps, the Congress of the United States. Professor Jackson had been apprised of my situation by a third party.]
I remain interested in returning to the Cleveland Park Neighborhood Library (CPK) of the DC Library System, provided the District can provide adequate assurance that my legal rights as a mentally disabled American will be respected.
Brian Brown has not yet responded to my messages to him indicating my desire to resolve this matter.
Again, I will keep the Second District apprised of the status of this matter.
Sincerely,
Gary Freedman
