Coincidentally, two of Mr. Rather's colleagues at CBS News are the following correspondents:

Martha Teichner -- a member of Hillary Rodham Clinton's graduating class at Wellesley College (1969). I do not know what contacts, if any, Teichner has had with Mrs. Clinton over the years.

Mrs. Clinton was class president.

Bob Simon -- an individual whose book Forty Days is quoted in my autobiography. Coincidentally, Mr. Simon attended the Wagner opera festival in Bayreuth, Germany during the summer of 1998.
