RE: Freedman v. D.C. Department of Human Rights

Dear Mr. Holder:

The enclosed copy of the Petition for Review of agency Decision filed in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on October 10, 1995 in the above-referenced matter is forwarded for the information of the Office of U.S. Attorney.

I would like to direct the attention of the Office of U.S. Attorney to the following unusual implications of the enclosed pleading.

Sworn statements filed by Laurence J. Hoffman, Esq. and Dennis M. Race, Esq. of the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld (“Akin Gump”) assert that my belief that I was subjected to unlawful harassment and discrimination while employed by Akin Gump was the product of a serious mental disturbance that rendered me potentially violent and not suitable for employment.

The enclosed pleading indicates that I continue to hold beliefs that are, according to Akin Gump and the Government of the District of Columbia (Dept. of Human Rights), the product of a serious mental disturbance that renders me potentially violent.

Were I to be prosecuted for a crime of violence the enclosed pleading in itself would tend to prove that I lack the capacity to form the requisite criminal intent in that the pleading evidences my continued adherence to a set of beliefs that are, according to Akin Gump and the Government of the District of Columbia, the product of a serious mental disturbance.

The enclosed pleading is, in the warped reality created by attorney managers of Akin Gump, material to an insanity plea in a possible future prosecution for a crime of violence under the laws of the United States and/or the District of Columbia.

And, in the warped reality created by attorney managers of Akin Gump, were I to be prosecuted for a crime of violence I can count on one Akin Gump partner--and close friend of the President of the United States--to testify as to the reputation for truth and veracity of Akin Gump’s attorney managers, notwithstanding the fact that not a single material sworn statement made by Mssrs. Hoffman and Race concerning my mental state or conduct as an employee can be substantiated.

I emphasize, once again, that I do not harbor any violent intentions, and maintain that the statements of Akin Gump’s attorney managers and supervisory staff relating to my mental capacity, conduct as an employee, and propensity to commit an act or crime of violence (specifically including homicide) are malicious and defamatory. However, the Office of U.S. Attorney is aware that my medical records on file at the George Washington University Medical Center indicate that I may possess a highly-refined ability to lie to conceal the nature and severity of a psychotic mental illness.

Sincerely,

Gary Freedman
