Hogan & Hartson: Memo re: Snow Days

TO:  All CAD Temporary Personnel

FROM:  Sheryl L. Ferguson

RE:  Paid Versus Unpaid Leave

The recent snow emergencies have re-raised the issue of when temporaries are to be compensated if the firm is closed.  The firm policy is and has been that all  CAD personnel are to receive compensation for national holidays.  The holiday pay benefit does not apply to firm holidays (the day after Thanksgiving, the 1/2 day of the lawyer outing, the occasional 1/2 day(s) prior to Christmas or New Year's and snow days).

Due to the circumstances of the recent snow emergencies and the fact that in the recent past (through an oversight) adherence to this policy has been slightly inconsistent, you will be compensated for the hours during which the firm was officially closed (Thursday, January 22nd - from 12:30 p.m. and Monday, January 26th - all day).

Effective this date, however, the policy regarding such compensation will be strictly followed and payment will not be issued for hours not worked on any day other than a national holiday.

Please give me a call should you have any questions about this mater.
