Hon John G. Penn
Chief Judge
U.S. District Court for the
    District of Columbia
3rd Street & Constitution Ave., NW

RE: Jury Duty Disqualification

Dear Judge Penn:

I feel duty-bound to provide the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia a copy of the enclosed letter dated April 8, 1994 addressed to Deputy D.C. Corporation Counsel Charles Reischel.

To the extent that the enclosed letter alleges or implies that I was subjected to job discrimination while employed at the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, the letter is, according to the Government of the District of Columbia, incontrovertible evidence that I suffer from a paranoid (psychotic) mental disorder that, presumably, renders me unqualified for jury service by reason of severe mental impairment.

Such are the tragic ravages of mental illness in the view of the Government of the District of Columbia.

Sincerely,

Gary Freedman
