RE: Freedman v. Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld

Dear Sir:

Enclosed for your information is additional documentation regarding the above-referenced matter.

The document is a letter to my former treating psychiatrist, Suzanne M. Pitts, M.D., that is of purely psychological interest, relating specifically to the issue of cognition and reality processing.

You will note that the letter cites a paper that had been submitted for peer review to Gertrude R. Ticho, M.D., the psychiatrist who purportedly determined that I suffer from a severe paranoid disturbance and that I am potentially violent.  Ironically, the paper reviewed by Dr. Ticho refers to persons who have a special, keen awareness of their environment, an ability that confers a hypernormal means of interpreting social cues.  Thus, Dr. Ticho is aware of the problem of differential diagnosis as between, on the one hand, paranoia (which involves a patient who claims, wrongly to have a hyperawareness of the environment) and, on the other, those persons who in fact have highly-refined and unusual cognitive abilities.

The letter to Dr. Pitts also cites the published work of Albert Rothenberg, M.D.  Enclosed is a letter from Dr. Rothenberg to me dated November 29, 1989.  It was Dr. Rothenberg who referred me to Stanley R. Palombo, M.D., one of my former treating psychiatrists.  I had sent a copy of my autobiographical sketch to Dr. Rothenberg under cover letter dated October 23, 1989.

Sincerely,

Gary Freedman
