The following is a parody of an American Express commercial that I wrote on May 6, 1998, about twelve years ago. The comedian Jerry Seinfeld had done commericials for American Expresss.

Vernon E. Jordan, Jr., Esq. -- a management partner of my former employer, the D.C. law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer and Feld -- served on the American Express Board of Directors. The writing is a sarcastic reference to Vernon Jordan's role in the Monica Lewinsky matter and the Senate Impeachment trial of former President Bill Clinton, a close friend of Mr. Jordan's. I was angry that Akin Gump had fired me in 1991 for no reason and had, metaphorically-speaking, thrown me out on the street; while Vernon Jordan, years later, reportedly made telephone calls all over the country (including one to American Express) to secure employment for Monica Lewinsky, reportedly to silence her and protect his friend, Bill Clinton.

Psychologically, what's interesting is the way I turned my anger to humor.
Script for U.S. Marshall Service TV Promo
It has the power to move you. It has the power to take you places you never knew existed. It is, of course, the U.S. Marshall Service. So, if you're going to federal prison, don't take your chaufeur-driven limousine. The warden won't let you in.
The U.S. Marshall Service: It has the power to take you everywhere you don't want to go.
