In the late 1990s I sent five very unusual, if not disturbing, letters to Philadelphia U.S. Attorney Michael R. Stiles. Why is it that Mr. Stiles did not contact the FBI in alarm about my interstate activity of sending out disturbing letters?
Why was the U.S. Marshal concerned about my references to crimes of violence on my blog, My Daily Struggles, and initiate an investigation in January 2010 when the Philadelphia U.S. Attorney didn't seem to have a problem with my letters?
In my mind this inconsistency adds to my suspicion that the U.S. Marshal interview and investigation was politically motivated: aimed solely to intimidate me from my activity of blogging about the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, my former employer. A senior management partner at Akin Gump is Vernon Jordan who has ties to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and the head of the DOJ Criminal Division, Lanny Breuer -- both former partners at the law firm of Covington & Burling. The U.S. Marshal claimed that factual statements on my blog were a veiled threat against the spouse of a Covington & Burling partner, by the way.

The following is the text of a letter I sent in 1997 to the Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne M. Abraham that contains disturbing references to crimes of violence. Judge Abraham didn't seem to have a problem with my letter.
