Advice to a Judicial Nominee Who Has No Judicial Experience

Don't sweat it.  You don't need experience.  When I was hired by Akin Gump I had no experience as a schizophrenic, but in the end everything turned out just fine.  Now, after 20 years, I'm a pro.  I turned being a schizophrenic into a career.  As I like to say, I just take things one delusion at a time.

I'm reminded of something my old mentor Bob Strauss once said to me about his experience with anti-Semitism as an undergraduate at the University of Texas: "Before I attended the University of Texas, I didn't know I was a Jew."

Funny thing, before I started working at Akin Gump, I didn't know I was a schizophrenic.
