I had a French teacher in college who told a story about an inexpert translator who had translated the phrase "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak" into "The wine is fresh, but the meat is rancid."
It troubled me to post this. But I couldn't resist. You know, I'm susceptible to irresistible impulses. But I have to admit -- Strauss was a great coach.
