Are Radiologists Birds of a Feather?

The father of Jesse Raben, a paralegal with whom I worked at the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, is the radiologist Milton Raben, M.D. I remember Bob Strauss saying, at the "Breakfast With Bob Strauss" that Akin Gump held on Monday morning April 3, 1989: "I don't believe in coincidences." Well, sometimes things are just coincidences, Mr. Strauss. Has Dr. Raben ever heard of Dr. Netanyahu? Probably not. Although Dr. Raben has lived in Israel.

Iddo Netanyahu (born 1952) is a radiologist, author, playwright, the youngest brother of Benjamin Netanyahu who is the current Prime Minister of Israel and previously held that office from 1996-1999 and Yonatan Netanyahu, an Israeli war hero.

Netanyahu was born in Jerusalem, Israel, the yougest of three brothers. His eldest brother Yonatan Netanyahu was killed leading the Operation Entebbe hostage rescue mission in 1976 and is considered a war hero.

Netanyahu spent part of his childhood in the United States. He left studies at Cornell University in 1973 to fight for Israel in the Yom Kippur War. He served in Sayeret Matkal, Israel's special forces unit, as did both his brothers.

He has an MD from Hebrew University of Jerusalem School of Medicine and did post-doctoral training at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C., and Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York City. He works as a radiologist at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, New York, and is medical director of its School of Radiologic Science (for X-ray technicians). He writes books and plays. He began writing while at Hebrew University. His play A Happy Ending has been produced with success in Italy by Compagnia dell'Attimo for the European Memorial Day 2008.

  1. At the same Breakfast, Bob Strauss also said he didn't like sports metaphors. I try to avoid them myself. Actually, I try to avoid sports altogether.
